Types of Electric Vehicles

There are three main types of electric vehicles (EVs), classed by the degree that electricity is used as their energy source. BEVs, or battery electric vehicles,  PHEVs of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and  HEVs, or hybrid electric vehicles.  Only BEVs are capable of charging on a level 3, DC fast charge. Installing a Level 2 EV Charging system

Image
POSTED BY: http://aevt.org/ & http://aevt.in/ A level 2 EV charger uses 240 volts of electricity. This has the benefit of offering faster charging time, but it requires a special installation procedure as a standard.  Considering the technical nature and risk of a Level 2 EV charger installation, it is always smart to hire a professional installer to install your charging station. Technically, a home charging station (also known as "electric vehicle supply equipment" or EVSE) does not charge your car. Before you begin Here is the information you'll need to make your decision. How fast of a charger do you need? Circuit size Should you oversize your charging station? Features Brands

POSTED BY:   http://aevt.org/  &  http://aevt.in/ Electric vehicle charging stations in India will have to follow a common standard approved by the Government, which has accepted a panel’s suggestion to have a uniform infrastructure across the country. The standardisation of charging infrastructure will enable electric vehicles of all models by different manufacturers to be charged at any station. The Committee, which had sought comments from various stakeholders, had received comments that open protocol be allowed with private partnership/investments.  It, however, said that open protocol is not desirable as standardisation is necessary. "ABB is helping India to achieve its ambitious goals of moving towards a stronger, smarter and greener grid,"the company said in a statement. Tata Power plans to device a mix of fast and regular chargers at these charging stations that will facilitate to charge vehicles from both private and public sphere. Companies

The Government has proposed setting up electric charging stations for electric vehicles in India. Every citie will have EV charging stations at every three kilometres. While highways will get charging points at every 50km distance. POSTED BY:   http://aevt.org/  &  http://aevt.in/ The government will also offer incentives, while also providing land from municipal authorities to those interested in setting up these charging stations. In total, the government expects a requirement of 30,000 slow-charging points and 15,000 fast-charging stations. Recently, the government proposed the reduction of GST rates on EV batteries. While also approving green number plates on electric vehicles, while also providing other incentives.

POSTED BY:   http://aevt.org/  &  http://aevt.in/ Govt to allow individuals to set up electric vehicle charging stations without licence Setting up public charging stations shall be de-licensed and any individual is free [to set them up], provided the stations meet the standards of the power ministry.  "The person should apply for connectivity and the distribution company is bound to provide connectivity. Obtaining electricity from open access is also permissible,"   government official told.    A fast-charging station requires an investment of about Rs 25 lakh but a slow charging outlet would cost about Rs 1 lakh.  "When EV sales pick up in about five years, an area of 3 km could require about 300 charging stations with about 4-5 charging slots,"     Praveer Sinha, chairman and managing director of Tata Power  told.  The government will also offer incentives, while also providing land from municipal authorities to those interested in sett
